A rustic retreat home… oh, the benefits of board and batten siding.
Among the benefits… low priced, locally sourced, easy to install, and natural look. For those seeking a rustic log cabin but price is an issue consider the potential of this material, for the entire home, or for part of it.

Oh I love this!! This is kinda like what I would want very NEAT!!
Me too Michelle! I posted this same home on my Facebook page and was floored with the overwhelming response to this house… we are not alone!
I’m thinking of building something like this, would poplar board and batton work as long as its off the ground and having a heavy 2 or 3 coatsof sealer or oil based stain on it? I can get wood 1000 for$ 500.00 or if he saws my poplar for$ 300.00 per 1000.Is this a good deal for siding, I know it beats any lumber yard. what do you think ?
I’ve used poplar for both lap siding as well as board and batten many times… it is affordable, local, knot free… and very stable (little-to-none cupping or twisting)
Poplar is not as durable as other woods when exposed to weather so it really needs to be protected with a good sealer or paint, and maintained.
