Well, you have convinced me that I should live in a log cabin. Although, I think mine will be a little bigger than the ones you have pictured. I will then have the biggest man cave in history! Well, at least I’ll try.

I have built some fairly large homes with logs. The trick to doing it, and end up with an attractive home, is to not build a huge log box. The largest historic cabin that I’ve ever seen was about 22 by 34. Any larger than that a cabin begins to look faux. But there are many examples of cabins connected to cabins, or some other form of construction. I’ve built half a dozen homes in the 3,000 to 7,000 square foot range where one section of the home was log and the rest some blend of timber frame, or new construction designed to look rustic, or farmhouse ish. Look for the Handmade House Academy being released in the coming weeks…. there will be a lot of great info there and you will be able to avoid some headaches and likely save a good bit of money. Noah
