Notice the unique notching on this corner of the cabin. Typically the log ends would be similar in size but here they are all noticeably smaller on one side of the cabin than on the other.
With regard to log cabins, an “industry standard” was never achieved… each builder, it seems, has added his own creative touch.

No Doubt about it Chuck.. there are some tight joints on this cabin… and I’ve seen my share of cabins with very tight joints, but generally all the logs on a house were equally, or somewhat equally, notched and gave the same effect. If you have any further thoughts on what this guy might have been thinking to do it this way, make sure and let me know!
