This cabin is…
Perfect.
Absolutely perfect.
Oh my.
How is that a house was built a hundred and fifty years ago… it still stands straight and true… and that it is SO much more attractive than almost all of the houses that are built today?

I am going to build a small two story open loft cabin. Do you have have a book out for ideas?
Hi Dan,
First, let me say Congratulations!!! how cool is that? Ain’t nothing better than building a cabin!!!
There is a red link to the left side of this site where you will find a list of books that I recommend reading.
I am in the early phases of writing my own book, but it will be next year before I can possibly put it together for release.
The focus of my efforts have been towards putting together an eight hour long course where I share everything that I’ve learned in designing and building unique handmade homes over the course of 30 plus years. The Handmade House Academy will likely be released in just a few weeks. (yes, it’s behind schedule, but I’m finding it’s a lot harder to put together than I ever imagined.
I will also be releasing shortly after the course about a dozen or so of my classic hand drawn plans for a minimal price. I’m thinking of throwing in one with the first offering of the course.
Don’t forget there is tons of information here on this site, just dig through all the over 1,000 postings. For now, my biggest advice to you… is to focus on the elevations… on coming up with the most attractive exterior design that you can… not a good design… the BEST design. Dig through images here on this site and find the one small cabin that screams to you “that’s the one!!!”
