A rustic retreat home… oh, the benefits of board and batten siding.
Among the benefits… low priced, locally sourced, easy to install, and natural look. For those seeking a rustic log cabin but price is an issue consider the potential of this material, for the entire home, or for part of it.
Now here we have a wonderful rustic kitchen… it’s not everyone’s dream kitchen but you do have to admit that it is a piece of art. The designer of this kitchen clearly thought “out of the box”, had a nice collection of antique cookware, and wanted to showcase it all. They did a great job at it.
I can’t help but notice that no board on this cabin is cut exactly right… each is to some degree a little too long.
Better too long than too short.
I know from experience that when building a home with the aid of a handsaw, rather than an electric one, that work is often performed “good enough”… not “perfect”.
Here’s an intriguing cottage.
It appears to be a new home, built using salvaged materials.
I have never used metal roofing materials for siding, but you know, I kinda like the look. And, it would make for a low cost, zero maintenance option to wood siding
I understand that metal panel siding is popular in the state of Texas, but unheard of here in Virginia other than for new outbuildings.
