I do enjoy looking at places like this… as a reminder of how little we really need when it comes to shelter.
We spend our entire lives working to pay for our homes and to maintain them… not to fulfill our need… but for the sake of comfort and luxury.

I just love your photos and information! I am a Native Texan with family here going back to about 1835 when Texas was Mexico, Coahuilla y Tejas. Anton (Menke) Pieper and Peter Pieper were early settlers in Colorado County Texas on the Cummins Creek area. Peter Pieper’s 1830’s log cabin has been found and will be moved to San Felipe, Texas. Texas is not as old as many of the places you see out East. I am a central Texas REALTOR® specializing in Historic Homes, Horse Properties and Greenbuilt homes. I currently am marketing an old 1856 + – home at 4379 W US Hwy 290 in Fredericksburg, TX. The hand quarried stone block walls are about 18″ thick. Another historic stone home I am marketing is on the historic Chisholm cattle driving trail at 8 Chisholm Trail in Round Rock Texas. I just love historic homes! Thanks for your wonderful blog and website!
