After all these years
After all these years, and a fine partial restoration, this cabin still stands proud and straight.
And… she’s mighty attractive I might add.
All she needs is her missing chimney restored, a new front door, and a few windows and then it’s time to move in.
And, oh yeah, a porch on the front would be so nice… you just have to have a porch. 🙂

A home made of wood
A house made of wood is still a thing of beauty, as she ages and slowly returns to the earth. Even in such a state of disrepair I find myself admiring this home.
Timeless in her charm.
I doubt if future generations will feel the same about the vinyl and formaldehyde creations that are being left behind for them.
So, what do you say?
How about when we build we choose to use natural products, as much as we can.
And, let’s give plenty of thought to the designs of our homes.
We can try to reinvent the wheel and come up with the next great look… or… we can look around and discover what has been proven to be admired for centuries.

Historic stone work
Notice how the stonework shows little if any shaping or refinement, and yet it is attractively laid, in a horizontal pattern.
Â
Stonework does not need to be laid by artists to be appealing to the eyes. A good selection of stone, laid properly, is visually striking and will last for generations.
