I like porches a lot.
I think this place is actually a pre-fab believe it or not.
But its very well done, I think.
If it’s a prefab… they did a good job of it.
I certainly have no issue with the concept of prefab… in fact it’s a great idea to save folks money on. My issue with them is two-fold… one is that I’m not aware of any prefabs that I really like and two, if there any, (and what a market it would be to get in), I’m afraid that it would be so popular that there would one on every corner! It was the 2009 mountain home winner in Southern living magazine, but do to the hosuing slump they went out of business in 2012 I think (Haven Homes). They were supposed to be a very high quality re fab. Not run of the mill.

I GREATLY appreciate your feedback and information… I’ve been at this for several decades now and I know that there is more that I don’t know than I do know… And that, is one of the many great things about building houses, one never knows it all, nor has seen it all. There is always another new discovery every day.
How can I get more detailed drawings or plans for the Wrap Around” porch house? My wife and I have been searching for a long time and really feel this home is exactly what we are looking for. We plan to mill our timber to save on construction cost plus give a more sentimental feel knowing the wood is from our own land.
I do like the idea of milling one’s own timbers… sometimes the savings is not much (sometimes it even creates a loss)… BUT… the sentimental feel, the act of creating your own home from your own materials and labor is immeasurable in it’s rewards.
I’m sorry but I do not have the plans for this home you reference. The image was sent in by one of the members here. I am a BIG advocate of drawing one’s own plans, in using the images of homes that one finds attractive as a starting point, so use this image while creating a home that is tailored to your wants and needs!
