A place for everything, and everything in it’s place

Now here we have a wonderful rustic kitchen… it’s not everyone’s dream kitchen but you do have to admit that it is a piece of art. The designer of this kitchen clearly thought “out of the box”, had a nice collection of antique cookware, and wanted to showcase it all. They did a great job at it.

Stone is a marvelous building material… gorgeous to look at, free for the gathering in many places., zero maintenance, and, it will last… well… forever.

You can let your imagination run wild when you build with stone.

You can build classic designs, ones that have proven their appeal over centuries, ones that will be appreciated for centuries to come.

Stone, the ultimate alternative building method that we have today, and also, the one that we’ve had for millennia.

Back to the land, and under a boat

Here we have a really cool handmade house, built using locally gathered stone and salvaged materials.
Who wouldn’t want to visit a place like this, or perhaps stay a night?
But, I wonder. how many would choose to live in a home like this for next five years?

An old brick classic

A classic beauty.
I can’t imagine why she would have been abandoned.
But there is hope.
It appears that she was build well enough to withstand a period of neglect.
And who knows, perhaps one day someone will once again choose to make this house their home.

A house can be designed and built in such a way as to compliment the landscape. When that happens a house becomes more than just a place where people live, it becomes a work of art.

Log cabin back porch

Now that’s a back porch.

Years ago a back porch was more than a place to sit and reflect. During the warmer months of the year there was plenty of kitchen and laundry work that needed to be done… mainly food preservation of the crops that would  sustain the family throughout the Winter and coming Spring. It was much more pleasant to be doing these chores out on the porch where the heat from all the fires needed to can and heat water didn’t make working so unbearable.
